Away from it all, old swedish farm on an island

Welcome to book your holiday on an isolated island in the middle of a wild life preserve in Sweden. Here you live easily in a real Swedish summer idyll.The only way to reach this unique accommodation is by boat. It’s a small old farm on a car-free, isolated island, with no neighbours. Located in Mälaren outside Västerås and 20 minutes away by boat. Here you rent the whole farm and you have the main house and cottages all to yourself. Here you can live simply with an outdoor terrace and summer water and with lake Mälaren a hundred meters from the house. Wake up to birdsong and eat breakfast on the private dock, don't be surprised if you see golden eagles or sea eagles sailing above you as you sit and enjoy your morning coffee! Here you spend the days swimming, sunbathing, fishing or discovering the surroundings. Here you get a fantastic wild life experience. The farm has its own private dock with evening sun and a natural plot with meadow, forest and a rich wildlife the house. Here you can watch birds, moose, deer, wild boar, beavers, foxes, badgers, squirrels, birds of prey, sea birds, fish and many unusual butterflies and insects unique to the island and the area as this is a wild life preserve. On the island there is a simple smaller boat with a motor for 5 people (if you are more than 5 people, you can drive two times). Loan of this boat is included in the rent, but petrol is paid for by the guest. There is hot water, a shower, a fridge and freezer and a stove and an outdoor terrace. Drinking water is included in the rent but the water from the well on the property is not drinkable so we will leave enough drinking water in plastic cans for our guests.

We highly recommend taking the boat to the large neighboring island where you can walk along a path that goes through the island, on this place it’s like you go back to the 17th century. Feel free to pack the picnic basket so you can enjoy a a picnic under one of the many old oak trees on the island. On the island there is an old forge, a shipyard and nice natural areas. Hike, discover and enjoy a hike along a long winding path in beautiful nature. Feel free to stop for a swim at one of the piers or a coffee break at Kurö Gård's summer café (if they are open).

The accommodation:
The main house:
The main house is from the beginning of the 20th century. Bedroom 1 has a comfortable double bed and a bunk bed. Bedroom 2 has a double bed and a bunk bed. In the living room there is a sofa bed that can be converted into a 120-bed as well as a large corner sofa and a TV with 3 Swedish channels, a DVD player with many DVD films to choose from (different genres for different ages). Here there is a large kitchen with a large dining table with room for 10 people. 2 fridges and freezers and two large pantries. There is a microwave and a stove with an oven. There is also a bathroom with a shower with summer water and hot water. Not a toilet, but a potty bucket that can be emptied in the outdoor area.

Torpet:
Here there is a comfortable double bed and a dining table for three people. It is possible to get an extra bed or cot here if you move the double bed in. There is a simple kitchen with running cold water, a fridge and microwave. No toilet, but there is a potty bucket that can be emptied in the outdoor area. Cafe furniture for 2 people outside the cottage.

The little cottage:
A simple little cottage for two. No kitchen, no fridge, no microwave in this simple cottage. There are kettles and coffee mugs. No toilet, but there is a potty bucket that can be emptied in the outdoor area. Cafe furniture for 2 people outside the cottage.

The farm has a large barn where there is a ping pong table and in rainy weather the whole party can have a place to eat here (the barn is in very simple condition and is also used to store the owner's things so the cleaning requirements there are low.) In the garden outside the cottages there is outdoor furniture that can be moved together. On the dock there are benches and tables with room for many. There is a barbecue to borrow (however, there may be a fire ban during dry hot weather!)

Rent includes

-drinking water in plastic cans (if you need more, you can drive to the marina and get more)
-rental of boat with motor for 5 people
-boat shuttle upon arrival and check-out (NOTE shuttle does not depart after 5:00 p.m.)

Final cleaning is carried out by the tenant according to the cleaning list. A damage deposit of SEK 4,000 is added, this is refunded after a few days, after an approved boat-, cleaning-, property- and damage inspection. If you do not wish to clean yourself, the service can be purchased for a cost of SEK 2,000. Bed linen and towels (not bath towels) can be rented for a cost of SEK 150 per person.

NOTE.

-Guests should pack plenty of food, petrol for the motorboat and lighter fluid/barbecue charcoal as there are no grocery stores close at hand.
