Ramsö is a car-free island with rural idyll in Stockholm's archipelago. Easy to reach by archipelago boat from central Stockholm (about 1 hour, 20 minutes). During the summer the boats run quite often. A summer house in the archipelago for the family but still close to central Stockholm and good to commute to work in the city

Welcome to "Ekhagen", a bright and airy architectural summer house on Ramsö in the Stockholm archipelago with a large garden. Our different and unique house was designed by the architect Carl-Ivar Ringmar and was built in 1965 in the so-called Oak hill. The house is divided into two houses with a outdoor area under the same roof as well as a large sunny terrace in the the south and to the west (sunset side). In the main house there is a kitchen, dining area, living room with high ceilings, TV, fireplace, bathroom with shower, hall, bedroom and large sleeping loft with two double beds. On the other side of the outdoor area there are two separate bedrooms with bunk beds and a storage room. In the backyard (about 10 m) is a small house with a nice and fresh dry toilet (compost toilet).

The house is located 1,3 km from Ramsö pier (15–20 min walk), on the middle of Ramsö's "waist", with sea views in two directions; across the bay to the east and a fantastic evening sun and sunset over the bay to the west. The garden has a arge lawn with sun and shade during the day, suitable for play, crochet, badminton, boccia, etc., or you can swing in the big old oak trees.

There are 4 bikes for you to use and a bicycle carrier. You can park the carrier it at Ramsö pier while shopping in Vaxholm.

We compost food waste and sorting garbage to reduce the amount of waste. The garbage can for flammable household waste (max. 150 kg) is emptied only weeks 22, 26, 28, 30, 34, 38, 42, 46. Extra bag and pick-up can be ordered for an extra cost. At Ramsö pier there are recycling bins for glass and paper.

The house is perfect for the big family with many sleeping places for visiting guests. There are two sets of outdoor furniture and a barbecue.

At Ramsö there are several general areas for activities, boule alleys, two football courts and a ping-pong table. There are several places on the island for swimming; rocks, beach and pier. It's great to run on the dirt roads of the island.

There is a very popular traditional Midsummer celebration with dancing around the midsummer bar in the day and live music, dance and tombola etc. in the night.

The house is about 150 m to a pier where you can fish, swim and sunbathe. There is also a table and benches where you can sit and have a snack or have lunch. If you have your own boat, you can use our boatspace with a buoy.

If you want to enjoy the beach, there is a beach within walking distance. Badberget is located at Ramsö brygga where you can cycle or stroll. There you can swim, fishing or picnic in the evening sun.

There is the opportunity to buy freshly baked bread and buns from the island's own baker. He can also help with transport to or from Ramsö pier for a small charge.

There is a shortage of freshwater on the island, so do not use more water than you need (ie do not let the water stand or drain or shower for too long).

In Vaxholm there are grocery store, pharmacy, Systembolaget, iron- & paint shop, interior stores, bookstore, hotel, restaurants, bars, pizzeria, cafes and an Italian icecream bar. There are also two petrol stations for boats. In the northern harbor, Vaxholm's homestead is located with a cozy garden cafe by the waterside. Vaxholm is also a major hub for most regular boat connections to the northern and central part of Stockholm archipelago. For more information check or
