Cozy mountain cottage at the lake in Frostviken

Here you can get relaxation, and come down from your stress. If you
daring to enjoy the silence, then you have come to the right place, namely Frostviken who located in Strömsunds municipality. At this place called Spännviken, and the nearest community, Gäddede. Our cottage, is situated between two lakes Hetögeln and Gussvattnet, and is surrounded by mountains.

Think that you sit on the terrace, at our cottage in Spännviken in the summer and looks out over the water and the mountains. When the sun lights up at night and it is bright around the clock during the summer months. Listen carefully, suddenly you will hear the char in the water, and you walk down to the boat with a fishing rod in your hand.

Borrow our boat, so you can row out to the middle of the lake and find the fish. You can also choose to row out to the island “Holmen” to fish, swim or sunbathe why not grill in the prepared barbecue area there. You can collect fire wood from our cottage. But there are many other waters around our surroundings.

A great novelty of this year, 2016, is them who are interested in fishing. A common fishing license has been developed through a partnership between ten local fishing areas and three card fishing areas within SCA. The card is called Frostvikskortet and covers 140 km and 124 fishing waters in Frostviken. Most of the lakes, ponds and streams, which are in Frostviken, (also lake Hetögeln) is included in Frostvikskortet.

Unfortunately, has Gussvattnet - Storvattnets Fishery Conservation chosen to say no to cooperation concerning Frostvikskortet. This means that if you want to fish in the lake Gussvattnet, you must purchase a separate fishinglicense. This can be done, for example, at the Sandströms family in the village of Spännviken. This year (2022) is it fishing ban in the lake Gussvattnet between 15/9 - 31/10

But in the summer there are also many other activities which you can find when you stay at our place, in addition to fishing. You can, for example, go to the central place Gäddede and visiting Frostvikens hembygdsgård which is a museum with over 3000 objects. There is also a nature room at the Tourist Office and at the campsite, there is an outdoor bathingarea. It is also possible to rent more canoes at the campsite. Here in Frostviken we have some of Swedens longest canoe trails.

Another activities is the 43 m high Hällingsåfallet, which is Europes longest water- filled canyon (800 m). Here are some prepared barbecue sites and shelters, located only about 200 m from the parking area. Hällingsåfallet is located about 25 km from Gäddede.

Or why not go on a guided tour of Swedens longest limestone cave, by making an underground safari, in Ankarvattnet. This place is located about 55 km from Gäddede. If you rather prefer to hike above the surface, there are many beautiful trails for both 1 day and multi day tours to choose from in Frostviksfjällen.

Finally, I would say that perhaps you would rather prefer to hunt in Europes last wilderness in the autumn. Then you can buy a hunting licens at the Tourist Office in Gäddede for to hunt small wild animals. Sneak out into the forrests with the rifle to maybe shoot a grouse or capercaillie. Then you can smoke meat in our fish and
meat smoke.

Annother important information is the following:
Fishing is forbidden in the lake Gussvattnet between 1/9 - 31/10, but there will be an opportunity to fish in other lakes in Frostviken during the same period.

Presentation of the cottage:
We have no dishwasher, but besides that, is the kitchen fully equipped.
Fridge and freezer were purchased in 2014.
In the hallway there is a drying cabinet and a machine that dries shoes.
The bathroom consists of Toilet+ shower.
In the large living room with a view over Gussvattnet, have you another dining
area, TV, DVD and two couches which you can fold out to beds.

In addition,included in the rent, the little winter prepared cottage about 15 sqm with 2 separate beds, wardrobe and a machine that dries shoes There is electricity but no water.

Directions from Strömsund to Spännviken = 120 km

When you have come to Strömsund, turn into the road 342 towards Gäddede.
Follow the road all the time, you will go through some small villages otherwise is
the most water and forest. After about 60 km from Strömsund you to a small
village called Lidsjöberg, which have the last petrol station before Gäddede.
(75km).
Drive toward Gäddede, and when you come to a small village called Håkafot, then
it is approximately 6 km left to our cottage. When you have run further 4 km will
take you to a 90 degree left turn and then you have about 2 km left.
After about 1.5 kilometers, run you over a small river, at the second exit about 75
m from the small river, turn right. Now do you see 3 red cottages on our plot and
you have arrived forward.
If you have passed a plate which is on the left side where it says Spännviken, then
you have run too far.

Directions from Gäddede to the cottage in Spännviken = 12 km

When you have come to Gäddede, drive against Strömsund road 342 for about 12
km. Once you have passed the sign Spännviken on your right, continue about 50m
and turn at the first entrance on your left. You see, three buildings on a small hill
and you have find the right place. If you´ve driven across the stream, then you´ve driven too far.
