Cottage outside Mariefred for weekly rental

Welcome to our cottage at Sjöbygget just outside Mariefred.

The main cottage consists of a kitchen, living room, toilet and shower, as well as two bedrooms. On the property there is also a small guest cottage with two beds and a toilet. Altogether there are seven beds.

The kitchen is spacious and equipped with a stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, and freezer. The living room sofa has room for many. In the living room you’ll also find a dining area (with an extension leaf), a TV, and a fireplace.
The main cottage has a cozy covered veranda with a sofa. Just below it is a larger deck with a big dining table and a parasol. The guest cottage also has its own small deck. The property has a large lawn with room for play, and some equipment are available to borrow. In the area there is also a larger open field suitable for ball games.

About 200 meters from the cottage you’ll find a quiet, charming swimming area with a small beach, jetties, a barbecue spot, and tables. Both cottages are pet-free and non-smoking. We appreciate guests who treat our neighbors as if they were their own.
If you want to vacation with friends or family but not have them stay with you, we can recommend our neighbor who rents out their lovely cottage.

Final cleaning is mandatory and performed by an external service at a fixed cost.

Cafés and Restaurants Nearby

Within walking distance you’ll find Café Klavér, offering ice cream, delicious pastries, lunch with a fantastic view, and sometimes children’s theater and yoga. The cottage area has its own railway stop, Sjöbygget, where the heritage railway takes you to Mariefred or Taxinge Castle—also known as the “cake castle.”
Several good restaurants are available in Mariefred, Strängnäs, and the Taxinge/Turinge area.
About 5 km from the cottage you’ll also find Skottvångs Grufva, which has a restaurant and hosts excellent music events.

Activities and Nature Nearby

Within a short drive there are several great golf courses, including Gripsholms Golf Club (GolfStar) in Mariefred and Vidbynäs Golf in Turinge.
If you bring bicycles, there are beautiful cycling routes in the area. Sörmlandsleden (the Sörmland Trail) is nearby for hiking, and you can rent canoes or kayaks for paddling on Lake Mälaren or in small nearby lakes. The surrounding forests are ideal for walks, mushroom picking, and berry picking.

Easy Access to Stockholm

From Mariefred, you can take a steamship to Stockholm and back. If you prefer the train, the best option is to travel from Läggesta Station—the journey to the capital takes about 30 minutes.
