In the heart of the small Dala village of Gopshus and the Vasaloppet arena, about 20 km west of Mora, lies Villa Knagg with a view over the Österdal River. Here you’ll find peace and quiet close to nature, with the Vasalopp Trail passing right through the village – perfect for cross-country skiing in winter, and cycling, hiking, or jogging in summer.
On Gopshusberget you’ll find Mora Alpine Ski Resort, popular among both young and older skiers.
From Villa Knagg, you can reach several hiking trails leading up to the traditional summer mountain pastures (fäbodar) around Gopshusberget. All the trails connect to the Vasalopp Trail, which in this section coincides with the Romboleden pilgrimage route.
Just 300 meters away there is a swimming pier in the river, and about 4 km away you’ll find a long sandy beach with a diving tower at Lake Oxberg.
In winter, the Vasalopp ski track is just a few hundred meters from the house and is groomed as long as there’s snow. Between Gopshus and Oxberg the track is even lit – perfect for evening skiing. For downhill skiing enthusiasts, the Gopshus slope is within walking distance. It offers four runs, a ski cross course, a children’s slope with button lift, and a sledding hill – a family-friendly ski area without queues.
For fishing enthusiasts, this area is a real paradise, with easy access to many popular lakes stocked with game fish.
It’s 20 km to Mora, which offers everything a nature and culture lover could wish for. The Zorn Museum is a famous and interesting attraction.
Outside Mora you’ll find Gesundaberget, featuring a mountain inn and several ski slopes.
Älvdalen, 20 km away, offers fantastic waterfalls, fishing lakes, and exciting natural scenery.
Every year during week 32, the town hosts the popular Motor and Music Week with fun activities and social gatherings.
