“Calm down & catch up on your breathing”
As soon as you step into the hall, you understand that this is a house out of the ordinary. A large generous hall with high ceilings leads into the large living room, which extends across the entire width of the house. There are comfortable sofas and armchairs, a stove for rugged days and a stunning window wall facing the sea. In a separate room, there is a TV and a large sofa, so there you can watch movies without disturbing the rest of the family. The kitchen is large and open with generous work areas and everything you need to cook a delicious dinner. From the living room, doors lead out to the glazed veranda with a large dining table. From here, you can also walk out on the two front balconies with wonderful views. On the back of the house, there is also a small terrace. There are dining furniture and a couple of sun loungers on the outside.
“Salty morning dips from your own jetty”
The house has three bedrooms, the largest has a double bed and a sea view and direct access to the terrace. The two smaller ones have a sofa bed which is easily converted into 2 beds. There are also two extra folding beds.
The house has a toilet with sink and WC & a large bathroom with shower, sink and WC.
On the outside there is a fast charger for Tesla.
The plot & the boathouse
The plot is typical of Bohuslän with lawn, shrubbery and rocks. There are neighboring houses, but not so close that you will be disturbed. The house is the last one on a small dirt road so no cars pass by. The plot extends all the way down to the sea where you find the boathouse and the dock that belong to the house.
The boathous is big and inviting. It also has a loft for happy children who want to avoid the sun for a while and be left alone from sunbathing parents. The large double doors can be opened up to the dock so when the darkness falls, you can walk down to the sea side with a basket, packed with fresh shrimps & something good to drink. Light some candles, sweep a blanket around your legs & enjoy the ocean on your own dock.
You have the possibility to bring 1 boat, it is deep enough for a sailing boat. On the jetty there is a bathing ladder for lovely salty dips. One can walk into the water as well.
For larger parties there is possiblymay be the possibility of extra beds. Talk to us.
“Enjoy seafood and a nice wine in your own boathouse!”
Lyr, or Lyrön, is an island south of Orust. The island has been inhabited since the Stone Age but today, most of the houses are only occupied during summer. Here are chieftain graves and burial grounds from the Bronze Age for the historically interested. The island has no grocery store, but there is a very good fishshop & restaurant on the other side of the island; Bryggvingen. They have their own fishing boat which lands its catch below the restaurant so you won’t get it any fresher. The island is to some extent a nature reserve and a lovely island to walk on. Good bathing facilities are also available in several places, both beaches and rocks. On the island you can also play miniature golf. Around Lyrön there are fantastic waters for kayaking.
“Lyrön offers mini golf, nice kayak waters & lovely walks in the nature reserve!”
Tjörn & Orust
On Tjörn you find Skärhamn, with the famous Watercolor museum, fish shop, ice cream parlor & restaurants, or picturesque Klädesholmen with herring canning industry and the excellent Salt & Sill restaurant. To the north you have Orust which offers a variety of fun, relaxing & interesting excursions. A trip to car-free Käringön or Gullholmen is a wonderful excursion. Around the islands there are farm shops with locally produced goods for sale. If you want to enjoy more picturesque fishing communities then you should go to Hälleviksstrand or Mollösund. Göksäter, offers lots of cheap good-to-have items & has lots of things like fabrics & clothes. Töllås sheep farm has a wonderful café, where you can also buy vegetables from the garden or their own lamb products. Tavlebods honey farm shows, in a very educational way, how bees live and make honey. They also have a nice café. More tips about our favorite places can be found under the link Activities.
