Lovely 19th century house on waterfront property.

Lovely archipelago accommodation on the waterfront and in a private and recently renovated 19th-century house on Blidö ("The Island in the Sun"). The house is characterized by its 150-year-old charm combined with modern standards and is our guesthouse, which is for rent this year. In addition to the house, the rent also includes a sea cottage with a wood-burning sauna and a room with the character of a furnished glazed veranda. The houses are located on a beautiful 5500 m2 large waterfront property with 2 private jetties, several furnished patios and a large flat lawn. Despite the proximity to nature, there is no more than 300 meters to the SL bus stop and the quay for regular passenger boat traffic to Norrtälje town and Stockholm and, respectively. There is a driveway into the property.

THE WATERFORNT PROPERTY
Enjoy your stay by taking an invigorating swim or a dip from the private jetty for cool on hot summer days or sunbathe in a sun lounger, relax in one of the large hammocks or enjoy the shade on one of the terraces! The private shoreline has two jetties, one with a bench, boat berth and bathing ladder and one with a wooden deck and garden furniture. Next to one jetty is a small sandy beach. In addition to the 19th-century house, there are storage buildings on the large property along with the sea cottage and a main house, which is the owner's holiday home. The size of the property corresponds to several avarage size house plots and guests and owners use different sections of the property. The property borders the water on one side, undeveloped wooded land on two sides and the main house/neighbor on one side. The grounds consist largely of a level lawn, suitable for badminton, croquet, racquetball and boules on grass. The lawn reaches all the way down to the water.

THE 19TH CENTURY HOUSE
The house is recently renovated to a modern year-round standard with preserved original details such as hand-carved ceiling beams in the bedrooms. Beautiful wooden floors throughout. The floor area is 60 m2, of which the upper floor has a pitched roof with standing height in the middle. All room windows on the entrance floor have sea views. All bedroom windows have blackout blinds and all rooms have TV sockets. Wi-Fi is available.
The ground floor has two bedrooms, an open plan spacious livingroom with a kitchen area, a hall and a bathroom.
• Bedroom #1 has two 90x200 beds, a wardrobe and a dresser.
• Bedroom #2 has a sofa bed (90x200) and 3 wardrobes.
• The livingroom has open floor plan and its high ceiling makes the room spatial. The room has a sofa group, a wood-burning fire-place and a bay window with a dining area. The kitchen area has a hob, oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, pantry cupboard, crockery cupboard.
• The hall has a coat rack, fire alarm, fire extinguisher, cleaning cupboard and linen cupboard.
• The bathroom has a WC, chest of drawers with basin, hair dryer, high cabinet, shower, heated towel rail with timer, underfloor heating and washing machine.
• Bedroom #3 on the upper floor has two beds 80x200 that can be separated or together as a double bed and a dresser.

The house has Wi-Fi and good mobile reception, TV outlets are available in all rooms. Air heat pump with AC function. The house is not adapted for disabled geusts. The stairs to the upper floor are steep.

THE TERRACE
On the terrace facing south-west there is a hammock with thick cushions, table and garden chairs. A large sail can be attached to the house knots to cover the major part of the terrace but cannot be used in windy conditions.

THE SEA COTTAGE
8 meters from the beach is a sea cottage which has of a wood-burning sauna and one room.
The room has a coat rack, a small kitchen area with a stove, sink, fridge/freezer, microwave and kitchen cabinet, a high cabinet for storage, sofa, dining table with chairs, and a bedside cabinet with a 90x200 cm bed. All windows have blackout blinds. Thanks to all its windows facing the sea, the room has the character of a glaced veranda. The sauna has a shower with hot and cold water. The sauna benches can serve as a double bed 200x200 cm. If the sauna is used as a bedroom, the water heater in the cottage should be switched off due to the heat generation.
There are terraces along three sides of the cottage. Towards the water there is a garden table with chairs as well as brackets to allow the use of two hammocks. At the back of the cottage there is a cute little hut with non-water toilet and a basin. The hut ic equipped with electricity but no running water. Behind the cottage are boxes with the cushions for the garden furniture on the jetty.

EXTRA ROOMS
If a family has teenagers, grandparents etc. who would preferably in have mor space and allow the sea cottage to stay available for sauna bath and socializing, there is an option to extend rent with two more rooms (15+15 m2) in addition to the house and the sea cottage included in the basic rent. The rooms are located in the main house with a private entrance towards the sea. In the bedroom there is a double bed 160x200 and a wardrobe. In the second room there is a sofa group and TV. There is a basin in an adjacent space but no WC or shower.

CLEANING
To ensure that every guest is met with an impeccably clean accommodation, cleaning is carried out before and after each guest visit by a local professional cleaning company. The cost price is paid directly to the landlord on arrival.

THE RENT INCLUDES BOTH THE HOUSE AND THE SEA COTTAGE and futhermore…
• in a small storage hut on the slope behind the house suitcases etc. can be stored
• Bed linen and towels for indoor use are included for four guests. Additional sets of bed linen and towels are payable on arrival. Big bath towels for outdoor use are not available.
• Anatomic head pillow is available as an option. Please, advise before arrival!
• Rowing boat, optimist yawl and life jackets are available and are included in the rent.
• A 3-gear bicycle with luggage racks both front and back is available and included in the rent. Handy for guests arriving without their own car. It takes no more than a few minutes to drive by car and 5-7 minutes to ride by bike to the well-stocked grocery store on the island.
. • Various outdoor games (badminton, squash, croquet, boule, handball and football, etc.), bucket and spade for the sandy beach and various indoor games are available.

THE ENVIRONMENT
• Within a distance of 2 km, there is a very well-stocked ICA country store (open every day, representative of pharmacy/Systembolaget), paddle courts, boules courts, adventure golf, football field, outdoor gym and fishing water. On the island there is also a bistro, a harbor tavern, a hamburger restaurant, a pizza truck and an ice cream kiosk. Concerts are regularly given in Blidö's beautiful little church.
• In Furusund there is an Inn with a high class restaurant.
• It takes 45 minutes by car and one hour by bus from Blidö to the small town of Norrtälje, which is the capital of Roslagen. This 400-year-old small town is idyllic with charming old buildings mainly consisting of wooden houses. The old town center is picturesque. A walk along the river that runs through the town is interesting in several aspects. In summer, an exhibition is repeatedly created by placing works of art outdoors in the river water. The town also attracts with shops, restaurants, cafes, art, events and museums.
• The accommodation is close to the wonderful combination of beaches, cliffs, farmland, bright deciduous forests, deep pine forests and endless walking paths, where there are always new paths to discover on the island. All the natural values of the outskirts of the archipelago characterize this large property.

• The island of Blidö is located in Roslagen in the northern part of the Stockholm archipelago and about 90 km from Stockholm and 27 km from Norrtälje. On the beautiful road to Blidö, you cross a string of islands connected by 7 large and small bridges. From Furusund, two ferries in regular service and free of charge takes you to Blidö.

• in the 18th century, Blidö still comprised of several islands with a wide waterway, Hemsundet, between the islands. As a result of the postglacial land heave, the islands have coalesced, reducing the waterway to a bay with a long, narrow waterway connection to the Baltic Sea. The property, which is part of an old homestead, is located along the Hemsundet waterfront. Fresh water from a source in the middle of the bay mixes with the semi salt water of the Baltic Sea. The water quality in Hemsundet is high and the long, narrow waterway connection has so far effectively protected Hemsundet against algal bloom, which is otherwise often a summertime scourge in the Baltic Sea.
• Hemsundet is very rich in fish and constitutes a "nursery" for fish, mainly perch and pike. Motor vehicles are therefore prohibited on the water and you are not disturbed by any motorboats, jet skis, etc.. With smaller boats and canoes you go out to Blidösundet. Larger boats are moored at a pier in Blidösundet (distance 200 meters) where we have our own berth with sailing depth if any guest wishes to arrive in their own boat.

• Wira Bruk along the road to Stockholm is the only Swedish forge that has remained in continuous use since the 17th century when Wira had a monopoly on manufacturing swords, spears and lances for the Swedish army, which was in constant war at that time. . Today, the business continues as an art forge. Examples of products are the doorknocker on the front door, the curtain brackets in the bedrooms, various hooks and the wall sconce in the sitting room of the house.

Regular boat traffic Stockholm/Strömkajen - Blidö/Norrsund (). Airport bus Arlanda – Blidö/Norrsund via Norrtälje to change to the Blidö bus
By car Stockholm - Blidö/Norrsund a) motorway E18 via Norrtälje b) Kustvägen 276 via Åkersberga. This latter route is slightly shorter than the motorway but takes longer due to speed limits. However, it gives the opportunity to stop on the road and visit Wira Bruk ().

Check-out from the house and cottage no later than 10:00 a.m. and check-out from the garden no later than 2:00 p.m.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The accommodation is suitable for one family. The minimum age to rent the house + sea cottage is 25 years. Non-smokers only. No pets. Frech water is in short supply in the entire Stockholm archipelago, which must be kept in mind when showering, washing dishes, etc. Sorting rubbish is mandatory and the various bins in the kitchen are labelled. The house and the sea cottage as well as the grounds are only for the guests who rent them. Cleaning before and after guest visits is carried out by a local professional cleaning company and the cost price is paid to the landlord on arrival.
